Hi there, I'm Professor Jared Wong and I co direct the McGeorge global center together with Professor Omar Dajani.
What's the global center you ask? It's the Nexus and focal center of all things, international McGeorge. So some of the things we do include organizing an annual global center Symposium on important international law issues that gathers expert and important thought leaders in the field. So topics have included foreign interference with elections, reforming investor state dispute settlement, the global regulation of pharmaceuticals, and later this year, we're going to be looking at environmental law and climate change challenges in the age of the Anthropocene.
The global Center also helps organize the long standing summer program in Salzburg, Austria that has been in operation since 1974. Retired justice Anthony Kenedy of the US Supreme Court is a regular faculty member of the summer program, which attracts not just students from George, but from all over the globe. And by the way, students don't just take classes in the program, they can additionally elect to do one of the many internships in Europe provided by our international alumni and international board members. The International board of advisors comprises prominent alumni and friends of the law school, who are experts in their respective international areas of practice. And together, they advise the global center on its many activities, including shaping our international law curriculum and providing international career guidance to our students.
I've only been able to touch briefly on some of the things that we do and must direct you to our annual newsletter, which is also accessible in the view book. And that gives you a really good sense I think of what the global center is about. Or better yet, you should join us and I'll give you a personal tour. Thanks
